We are very excited to announce that we will be opening the Housing Choice Voucher Program Section 8 waiting list for JEFFERSON County ONLY from May 15-19th, 2017! The Section 8 Program allows low-income individuals and families to choose where they want to live and receive vouchers to assist with monthly rental costs. If you are interested in applying for the program, attend one of our mandatory orientation sessions for more information and to complete your application for the waiting list. We will conduct orientations and distribute applications at our Administration Office at 421 Walnut Street in Madison during the following dates and hours:
- Monday, May 15th 8am to 3pm
- Tuesday, May 16th 3pm to 7pm
- Wednesday, May 17th 3pm to 7pm
- Thursday, May 18th 8am to 12pm
- Friday, May 19th 8am to 12pm
You only need to bring a picture ID in order to apply. Applications will only be available after the official opening at 8am on 5/15/17. Any applications received after 12pm on 5/19/17 will not be accepted.
After submitting your application, you will be placed on our waiting list for a voucher, and assistance will be awarded on a first-come-first-serve basis. The waiting time for a voucher is typically between 3 months to 2 years. Successful participants on the Section 8 Program are responsible renters and are prepared to sign a 1 year lease agreement when a voucher becomes available. Our program serves working families, elderly and disabled people, and income eligible individuals and families.
