OVO, Head Start is seeking an individual to fill the position of Health and Nutrition Coordinator. This position is responsible for the development and implementation of the total health and nutrition components of the Head Start Program, promoting appropriate health and nutritional habits and monitoring the programs administration of the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). This position is best suited for an individual with impeccable organization and attention to detail. A proven track record of building and facilitating community partnerships preferred. This position requires a bachelor’s degree in health services or a related field. $23.86 per hour. This is a full-time position with competitive salary and benefits.
- Adhere to all Personnel Policies, Head Start Program Performance Standards, Program Policies and Procedures and Indiana Childcare Licensing Regulations.
- Ensure that the nutrition services meet HSPPS, CACFP regulations, Indiana Childcare Licensing Regulations and local food service guidelines.
- Maintain safety and oversee facilities and playground safety related maintenance and repair needs and environmental concerns for staff and children.
- Facilitate the organization of Health Services Advisory Committee and utilize the committee in the planning, implementation and evaluation of the health and nutrition program.
- Establish contracts and/or MOU’s with collaborating programs, vendors, registered dietitian and medical personnel which support health and nutritional services.
- Provide and/or coordinate health, nutrition and safety training for staff and parents.
- Conduct and/or arrange for diagnostic health screenings and follow up services for children through partnership with parents/guardians, staff and community partners.
- Must be flexible and willing to adjust work hours and deemed necessary to accommodate families, program activities and/or training.
- Advocate for early childhood education through ensuring quality services to children, families and the community. Be a liaison for the company and program within the community.
- Work collaboratively with all staff to provide for the needs of the children in compliance with Head Start Performance Standards.
- Utilize, monitor and maintain program databases to accurately track child, family and staff information.
- Encourage parent and community volunteerism and participate in other activities to generate in-kind.
- Provide ongoing communication and information sharing with staff and parents.
- Submit timely, neat and accurate reports with appropriate data.
- Attend all assigned training and meetings.
- Ability to recognize and manage one’s own behaviors, moods, and impulses — to create an inclusive, equitable, and welcoming environment within their organizations.
- Show respect and openness toward each individual family and recognize each family is unique.
