Ohio Valley Opportunities, Inc. is seeking qualified individual for the position of Head Start Center Director/Health & Nutrition Coordinator at our Scottsburg Head Start center. A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, or a related field required. The Center Director/Health & Nutrition Coordinator will ensure quality operation of Head Start center, management of center staff and activities designed to promote social, physical cognitive development of children to reach School Readiness Goals through partnership with the parents and staff. Responsible for the development, implementation and monitoring of health and nutrition services throughout the Head Start program as outlined in the HSPPS, which support each child’s individual growth and school readiness. Individual must be at least 21 years of age. Some of the duties include:
Maintain necessary documentation to ensure program meets Head Start Program Standards, Indiana Daycare Licensing requirements and Paths-to Quality rating as appropriate.
Develop staff work schedules to assure appropriate child/staff ratios adherence to Indiana Labor Laws.
Maintain safety and oversee facilities and playground safety related maintenance and repair needs and environmental concerns for staff and children.
Facilitate the organization of Health Services Advisory Committee and utilize the committee in the planning, implementation and evaluation of the health and nutrition program.
Establish contracts and/or MOU’s with collaborating programs, vendors, registered dietitian and medical personnel which support health and nutritional services.
Ensure that nutrition services meet HSPPS, CACFP regulations, Indiana Childcare Licensing Regulations and local food service guidelines.
Provide and/or coordinate health, nutrition and safety training for staff and parents.
Conduct and/or arrange for diagnostic health screenings and follow up services for children through partnership with parents/guardians, staff and community partner.
Advocate for early childhood education thorough ensuring quality services to children, families and the community. Be a liaison for the company and program within the community.
Ensure sufficient and proper supervision of all children at the site at all times.
Work collaboratively with all staff to provide for the needs of the children in compliance with Head Start Performance Standards.
Utilize, monitor and maintain program databases to accurately track child, family and staff orientation.
