Celebrating Success: June 2018

Celebrating Success: June 2018

Summer has arrived! And with those hot temperatures came some wonderful things to celebrate here at OVO! Here are some of the great successes we had during the month of June:

  • Our Energy Assistance Program was approved to disperse 50 air conditioners for this Summer Program! These air conditioners will be distributed to households with members who are elderly, disabled, or under the age of 5 and that have medical conditions that require air conditioning. With the heatwave temperatures we have had over the last several weeks, these air conditioners can literally be life-savers for those in need!
  • The Housing Choice Voucher Program (Section 8) housed seven new families! As always, we are thrilled at the opportunity to help new families secure quality and affordable housing!
  • Our Annual Head Start Self-Assessment was a great success! Each summer our staff, Board members, and community leaders come together to evaluate our Head Start Program. This valuable process helps us identify our strengths and areas for growth and develop strategies to improve our program, best support our teaching staff, and maximize child and family outcomes.
  • We received an awesome thank you card from one of our clients who received Weatherization Assistance. We are also so very proud of our staff for going the extra mile to make sure those coming to us for help are getting the assistance they need and are provided with the best service possible!
  • We received an email from a representative from Thrive Alliance who commended our Head Start staff for the tremendous work they do with our preschoolers!
  • Thanks to our staff and fellow community partners, our Head Start Enrollment Round-Ups were successful! As a Community Action Agency, we love partnering with service providers in order to help meet the needs of our communities!

We were so glad to have a month like this June to take the time to really celebrate the accomplishments we make throughout the year and the incredible staff, Board Directors, and community partnerships who make this work possible!
